Optoma's BigVizion 1080p rear-projection
in-wall DLP projectors are available in sizes ranging from 80 to 120 inches, with
corresponding prices starting at $22,000 and going up to $50,000. Optoma is touting them
as the largest 1080P displays you can buy right now. They will be available in the second
half of 2007.

MSB's new iLink turns an iPod into a high-end
source component. MSB modifies each owner's iPod to send a clean digital output to the
iLink, which then connects
to a separate DAC. The iLink is WiFi compatible and has a 40-bit digital volume
control. The price of such forward thinking? $2000 including the modification to the
owner's iPod, or $2349 bundled with an 80GB iPod.
Well known for his Mini stand-mounted speaker,
Alon Wolf of Magico has added two floorstanding speakers to his product line. Left is the
V3 ($22,000/pair), which features sandwich-cone carbon-fiber midrange/bass drivers and an
inch-thick aluminum front baffle. Right is the 600-pound all-aluminum M6 ($119,000/pair),
which uses an air-motion tweeter and trio of 10" woofers. We were impressed by the
exceptional clarity of both speakers.
InFocus's Play Big IN1
VGA DLP projector with 480i output is priced at $500. It has a built-in DVD player and
speakers, and the supplied mirror can be used to project the image onto the ceiling so
kids can watch their favorite movies or play games while lying in bed.
The Gefen Personal Video Recorder (top) is priced at $399
and the HD Personal Video Recorder is priced at $499 (supporting resolutions up to 1080p).
These recorders support a multitude of video and picture formats, including MPEG4, and are
controlled through an onscreen menu. They can store content on any USB storage device,
including pen-type drives (as shown) or a USB-based external hard drive. They will be
available in February 2007.
