Paul S. Barton stands beside the new PSB Stratus Bronze ($1,100), which is contrasted with the larger Stratus Gold. The Bronze uses the same 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter used in the more expensive Stratus Silver and Gold speakers. It also uses a new pair of 6-1/2 inch bass drivers with poly-treated felt cones and rubber surrounds. Showing his new Air Mass 2S isolation platform, Bright Star Audio founder Barry Kohan explained that this 19-1/2 inch by 17-inch by 2-inch single air cell unit holds up to 170 pounds, has four solid brass miniumum-contact support feet, an entirely new valve mounting style and is enclosed on all 6 sides. Retail price of $299 in dark granite includes a hand pump and bubble level. Max Townshend exhibits his world class isolation system, the Siesmic Sink Rack, which contributed to the overall enjoyment of the sound of the Bow Technologies room. The new Wazoo, at $2,800, is a solid state integrated stereo amplifier which produces 50 watts into eight ohms. The $6,900 ZZ-Eight CD Player soothed all who took the time to stop in this unique room. Of special note in this room was the dark red lighting, orange traffic cones, hard hats, and road signs - a lighthearted visual treat. Tact Audio, Inc. showed a pair of active digital room correction systems, one compatible with two channel audio and one for multi- channel home theater systems. Gunnar Ek quoted the pricing for the RCS 2.2 stereo correction sytem as $8,000 and the TCS Theater Correction System at $11,500. These products were producing quite a buzz among show-goers.
