May 24, 2009 - Keeping it Interesting
by Jeff Fritz
I scheduled several cool products for formal review while
at High End 2009. Id announce them here, but I want to make sure they all show up at
my doorstep first. But I can give you a hint: There are two loudspeaker systems, a super
subwoofer, and a set of mono amplifiers -- and they all seem sure bets from what I can
tell.
There were a few other products discussed for possible
review, but theyll be farther off in the future, maybe late in the year. What does
this mean? It means, for me, that there were some interesting products at High End 2009 --
things that I know will be of interest to our readers and that Im hoping
will fit into my system and room well. I guess that natural curiosity is a prerequisite
for the job of audio reviewer: Just when everything is perfect, we just cant leave
well enough alone.
So Ill shake up the components in my Music Vault
listening room and see what happens. After all, if a reviewer were to lose the desire to
find out if something better actually exists, there would be little point in continuing.
One thing that High End 2009 proved to me was that even in hard economic times, there are
those companies and individuals that will always push ahead. And Im glad for that.
It is, after all, what keeps this business interesting.
Jeff eyes the KEF Concept Blade, his favorite product at High End 2009 that he'll
never get the chance to review.
