Toward the back of Denon's very large display
area was an unassuming but spectacular small system comprising a DCD-CX3 CD/SACD player
(€ 1199), DRA-CX3 receiver (€ 1199), and SC-CX303 loudspeakers (€
1199/pair). We were impressed with the quality of all the components. The electronics
feature exceptional styling and compact size. The speakers,
too, seem quite well made. They have real-wood veneers and a woofer with what appears to
be a woven-carbon-fiber cone.
It all worked perfectly together. The system
sounded exceptionally refined, befitting its good looks, and produced a large soundstage,
contrary to the system's small size.
Unfortunately, this fine system is only
available in European and Asian markets. Perhaps the rest of the world needs to make some
noise about these products.
