Simaudio, Dynaudio
(All prices in US dollars unless otherwise indicated.)

Big speakers with powerful amps in a big room can often make for disappointing sound, but Simaudio and Dynaudio have a lot of experience working together, and the two companies put together an authoritative system in one of the large lower-level conference rooms of the Sheraton Centre. Any audiophile worth his contact cleaner can recognize the speakers -- Dynaudio Evidence Temptations ($40,000/pair). Simaudio Moon Evolution W-7M monoblocks ($18,800 CAD/pair) drove them, with a Moon Evolution W-8 preamp ($12,900 CAD) and Moon Andromeda CD player ($13,500 CAD) in front of them. All cabling was from Cardas.

The system cast a soundstage that was immense in all ways, though not unnaturally expanded. The low-end power of the Simaudio amps was abundant through the Dynaudio speakers. We've heard all of this equipment before, though never used together and never with such thrilling results. [www.simaudio.com]
