Arcam delivered the new DV135 universal player (top, $2000 CAD target price) and AVR280 A/V receiver ($2600 CAD target price) just in time for the Festival. As you'd expect, connectivity is generous.

Arcam also introduced a new "audiophile-quality" iPod doc, the rDock ($399 CAD), which has buffered RCA outputs for line-level connection, and S-video and composite video outputs.

The Artemis Labs SD-1 mono amplifiers comprise two chassis per channel -- output stage on the left and power supply on the right. With 300BXLS tubes, the amps deliver 14 watts per channel -- enough, we discovered, to drive Verity Lohengrin II speakers past room-filling levels. The price is $13,000 per pair.
