"How much? No, really, how much?"

That was our reaction when EgglestonWorks’ Jim Thompson told us that his beautiful new Dianne loudspeaker costs $2500 per pair. We thought its price would be much, much more.

This substantial (55 pounds apiece), sculpted floorstanding two-way (a 1" tweeter and a 6" double-magnet woofer) has a painted finish that rivals anything we’ve seen at any of price. The faceted cabinet is also surprising; that is usually reserved for speakers costing much more. We looked all over the cabinet and couldn't see a flaw. You just don't see this kind of workmanship at this price.

With the economy in the tank it was refreshing to see a company known for its higher-priced offerings introducing a product that appears to offer great value for money. If first impressions tell you anything, the EgglestonWorks Dianne seems like a surefire success.
