The new Sonus Faber Toy line brings the company’s
products down to an entirely new price point. Although these are the lowest-priced
speakers from Sonus Faber, they still possess some unique features, such as full leather
cladding and ring-radiator tweeters.
The three models that make up the line include
(from left to right) the Toy Center ($1000), the Toy Tower floorstander ($2700 per pair),
and the Toy Monitor ($1500 per pair). Believe it or not, the all-leather outer covering is
actually less expensive to manufacture than Sonus Faber's traditional wood-paneled finish
and is partly responsible for the attractive pricing. We liked how the speakers looked
regardless of price.
As you can see, the Toy Center is a
dual-woofer design that is front ported for ease of placement.
At the entrance of the room was a micro system
using Toy monitors, Pro-Ject's mini electronics, and iPod iTouch and Nano sources.
